Due to the devastating floods in Thailand, the Thai Government and our sponsors are unable to assist in the staging of the event in Brisbane in March 2012. We have therefore postponed the event but hope to bring the Thai Festival back to Brisbane later in 2012 or March 2013. Watch this space for further information. The 9th Thai Culture & Food Festival in Melbourne will be held at Federation Square on 18th March 2012.

On Sunday 20 March 2011, the 8th Annual Thai Culture and Food Festival took place at Melbourne's Federation Square; River Terrace and BMW Edge Theatre with over 50,000 visitors.

In addition to the fabulous choice of mouth watering Thai food; amazing cultural shows; Thai Product stalls, Thai Massage, Thai Toursim and the traditional Thai Beauty contest and Drum parades the 2011 Festival at Melbourne's Federation Square featured:

  • A special celebration and exhibition on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesy the King's 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary, 5th December 2011 
  • Live performances by over 50 Thai performers direct from Thailand
  • Meditation and Buddhism talks
  • Huge SINGHA Beer Garden - featuring great Singha beer and live music;
  • Interactive Thai Cooking demonstrations throughout the day
  • Thai massage and product stalls, with over 20 of the best Thai Restuarants serving mouth-watering Thai food and drinks 
  • NEW in 2011 - Live cultural shows and more on stage at BMW Edge - incluidng Melbourne Jazz Ensemble playing HM. The King of Thailand's jazz compositions and HIMMAPAN - Thai World Musiq

Inaugural Thai Culture and Food Festival - Sunday 3rd October 2010, 10am to 8pm

UPDATE - 8pm Sunday 3 October 2010 - The Thai Culture and Food Festival wrapped up for the day.Over 20,000 visitors braved the unseasonal grey skies, showers and rain the Festival was a great success. The aromas from the food stalls was amazing; the stage showcased a fabulous day of Thai Culture; crowds enjoyed a Singha beer, whilst watching the cultural shows and live bands on the LCD Big screen or on the main stage, in the Singha Beer Garden with plenty of large umbrellas and seating under the trees; product stalls abounded; lots of folk had a relaxing Thai massage under cover or found out more about Thai travel and buddhism, and children enjoyed the free Thai face painting.  And we had  a raffle winner for the Brisbane/Bankok return ticket courtesy Thai Airways.

Thanks to our sponsors and supporters, volunteers and performers from Brisbane, Sydney  and Mellbourne, consular staff from Canberra and Brisbane, Buddhist monks, bands, VIP guests, food and product stallholders, face piainter, AV team, Beauty contestants, South Bank team, bar staff, security, cleaners, equipment hire suppliers, and everyone else who helped make this a great day. And especially to the people fo Brisbane who braved the unseasonal weather to enjoy a day of Thailand in Brisbane. See you again soon!

To be set alongside the Brisbane River in the fabulous South Bank precinct - access by foot, ferry, car and train - Brisbane's inaugural Thai Culture and Food Festival will be a great day of Thai related activities including Buddhist ceremony, Thai Dance and cultural shows plus Muay Thai demonstration on stage, 15 Thai food and dessert stalls, Singha Beer Garden, Thai Products stalls; "Miss Thai Festival" Thai Beauty Contest; "Welcome to Thailand feature" - Thai travel and tourism information, Thai Massage ; Thai cooking demonstrations and Thai Buddhism; also childrens activities and much much more!!"  And after 5pm enjoy live bands and the amazing Thai Tiffany show on the Singha Beer Stage....

Plenty of parking right next to the Festival at the QPAC carpark.

The Festival is on today - Sunday 3 October 2010 - rain, snow or sunshine!!
